22nd Liszt Festival

The Liszt Festival in Gödöllő has become a prominent event of the national music scene during the recent years. This year, as in every year, the festival will take place in October celebrating the birthday of the excellent composer.
Alex Szilasi, the art director of the Castle, shared some information about the forthcoming event.
The festival was launched 22 years ago, which makes it the longest running Liszt Festival of Hungary, and is still successful to date. Mr Szilasi has been in charge of the event since 2016.
Music and arts have always played an important role in the history of the Palace since the Grassalkovich era. It’s no different today. This time, the main goal of this series of programmes is to introduce the life’s work of one of the biggest composers of the 19th century with the help of this unique environment. The art director also revealed that the royal family heard Liszt performing numerous times, and Queen Elisabeth, who often played the piano, loved the master’s compositions.
“The artists of the 22nd Liszt Festival in Gödöllő are the most outstanding members of the national and international music scene. Thanks to the wide variety of programs, I’m positive that everyone will find something to their liking.” – said Mr Szilasi.
